Artist Description:
The Last Supper was the final meal Jesus shared with His twelve disciples before His crucifixion. During this meal, He broke bread and shared wine with them, symbolizing His body and blood that would be sacrificed for the forgiveness of sins. It was here that Jesus established the practice of Communion (the Lord’s Supper) and also foretold that one of His disciples would betray Him.
Scripture References:
Luke 22:19–20:“‘And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”’”
