Be The Light
By: Vashti Graham
Artist Description:
This artwork is a reminder to be the light and to reach hearts, even those who may not think or believe the same way. It’s a reminder that love and kindness transcend differences. Light doesn’t choose where to shine; it simply shines, offering warmth and hope to all who see it.
When I first got this canvas, I broke it while trying to fit it into my car. As time went on, I was so upset about it. I hadn’t even started painting yet, but I already had a clear image in my mind of what I wanted to create and seeing the canvas damaged felt like such a loss. Over time, though, I’ve grown to love the broken part on the back. It’s become a reminder that even when we feel cracked, bruised, or imperfect, God still finds a way to shine through us. The light in His hand now feels even more meaningful, a symbol of grace that glows brightest through the very places we’ve been broken.
It also reminded me that sometimes we get upset over the things happening in our lives right now, but God has far bigger plans for our futures, plans we can’t always see yet.
Scripture References:
Matthew 5:16: "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven."
John 13:7 May you not understand what I’m doing now, but someday you will.”
